Thrifty Girl Vintage: Camo and Denim

Camo and Denim

I practically wore this camo skirt out during the Winter 2011 30 for 30 Remix.  I've given it a break for a bit so it was time to let it back out of the closet.  This time I paired it with the denim shirt I found at Target.
Goodwill purse and sandal set, $6.
This almost seems like an outfit of basics.  You've got camo, denim and beige macrame.  Camo seems like a neutral to me in the way that leopard seems like a neutral because you can pair it with so many colors.  I've always loved camo even when it wasn't in style and you only saw it on guys who had been out hunting wild game.  I would think, "Why can't I wear camo?"  And now I can.  Of course, if I was truly adventurous I would wear whatever whenever and I wouldn't have to wait until it came into style.  Lady Gaga wore raw meat and raw meat has not been shown for Spring.  What do you think?  Is there something you'd like to wear that's out of the ordinary or maybe not even deemed as clothes?
rue21 camo scarf on sale for $3.
The strangest thing I ever remember trying on was a paper dress.  My mom found it somewhere as an oddity.  You couldn't actually wear it.  I did wear a black plastic trash bag for Halloween one year when I went as a punk rocker in college.  Halloween outfits don't really count, though, do they?
Walmart skirt $12, Target denim shirt $20.
Have you worn something strange, unique or out of the ordinary?  Maybe something made of curtains, a sheet or a pillowcase?  Or something made of food, tools or household items?  I would love to hear from you and if you've worn some strange concoction...I salute you!

I definitely think camo is kind of a neutral too. A lot of "basic" prints are sooo easy to mix into outfits that I think of them that way.
