Sunday Inspiration: Inspiring Quotes

I write a little column in my local newspaper.  It's the sort of column where you list local's birthdays, who sang a special at church and what's going on in the community.  I always end with a quote or two, sometimes funny but mostly inspiring.  Today, I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you.
Spring Clouds.
"I think the world really boils down to two types of people - those who see shapes in cloud formations, and those who just see clouds."  - Terri Guillemets.  I see a shark floating over my head.  What do you see?  This ability to look at something old and make it into something new is a building block of personal style.

Vintage hat.

"Eccentricity is not, as dull people would have us believe, a form of madness.  It is often a kind of innocent pride, and the man of genius and the aristocrat are frequently regarded as eccentrics because genius and aristocrat are entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd." - Edith Sitwell (1887 - 1964), Taken Care Of, 1965.  This quote gives you the permission to be yourself regardless of how eccentric that self may be.  If we really believed this we would have no problem getting dressed in the morning.  We would just decide how we felt and then put on our costume of the day.

Another of my tiny journals.  See more here.

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."  - Dr. Seuss.  It came to me one day that if you try to be someone you're not then you're going to attract the wrong kind of friends because you'll end up with people who like the pretend you instead of people who like the real you.  Everyone isn't going to like us just like everyone is not going to like how we dress.  So if you can't please everyone anyway it frees you up to please yourself in how you act, how you are and how you dress.

Are you a quote collector, too?  What are some of your favorites?  I think I'll start putting some of my favorites on my facebook page.  You can follow Thrifty Girl Vintage on Facebook here.

I love the Edith Sitwell quote and the phrase, "innocent pride."
