April 22 Fashion Beauty Friend Friday: Inspiration

We are still celebrating the first anniversary of Fashion Beauty Friend Friday!  Katy Rose came up with the intriguing idea of answering the same set of questions that everyone answered this week a year ago since, as Katy puts it, "they are still pertinent today and usually ever changing."


1. Which celebrity (celebrities) do you look to for fashion inspiration?  I tend to like certain types or certain designers.  I like the spareness of Calvin Klein.  I love the over-the-top style of Betsy Johnson.  I tend to like extremes. I have always been intrigued by iconic blondes like Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelley.  I've never tried copying a celebrities look until I started blogging and joining in some of the challenges.  I thought it might be fitting to include some of the celebrity copying I've been doing since I joined two birds inspiration monday.

 
2. When it comes to your own personal style, what inspires you?  I hold two opposing ideas and I would not want to have to pick one or the other.  On the one hand, I love the idea of clothes as a uniform.  I can see a whole wardrobe of denim jeans and skirts, khaki pants and skirts, white shirts and a little black dress that you could dress up or down with accessories.  On the other hand, I love the idea of strange one-of-a-kind vintage items thrown into the mix.  I adore exotic shawls, sparkly shrugs and shirts or dresses with unusual architecture.

3. How do you hope to inspire your readers?  I hope to get the message out that age does not matter.  And the amount of money you have doesn't matter.  And if you're considered "stylish" by others doesn't matter.  I hope to inspire my readers that as long as they are dressing in a way that showcases the person they are inside then they will shine.

 

4. Outside the realm of fashion who/what inspires you?  I am inspired by the colors of summer:  lemon yellow, mint green, powder pink, sky blue, light purple and pristine whites.  I love everything island or beech inspired:  tropical prints, flip flops, macrame and jute.  I'm inspired by the 70's:  bleached and ripped jeans, bell bottoms, floppy straw hats and peasant shirts.

  Not sure what I'm going to come up with for this one!?!

5. And since Idol is ending… Which songs inspire you?  If I had to pick a few songs that are inspiring me right now, I would pick:
