Inspiration Monday with two birds

This week I am participating in the first "Inspiration Monday" at two birds.  Megan, of "two birds" says, "My love for Alexa Chung is never ending, so I once again chose her for inspiration. I wanted to start off with a picture that is pretty accessible for everyone to do...skirt, tee, cardi...I hope you all like it!"  Here is this week's inspiration for Inspiration Monday:

Picking out your daily outfit by copying a look provided is kind of like writing a story from a prompt.  It gets your creative juices flowing quickly and everyone's "story" or look is going to be different from everyone else.  It's also sort of fun for me to create within the limitations of a guideline. So after studying the given inspiration here is what I found in my closet to replicate the look.
I didn't have a polka dot skirt, so I substituted this dotted top.
Silver charm necklace from Gabriel Brothers.
Silver belt from Goodwill.
Black patent booties from Goodwill.
You can call this the mature Alexa Chung look since I don't wear short skirts!  It was fun doing the post because I put some things together I might not have otherwise.  It also gave me other ideas because I have a "face" tee that would go with this pale green skirt so that's another look I may try in the future.  If you want to see how other bloggers styled this look head on over to two birds and check out the other links.

What I'm Wearing:
Green cardigan, Target, $20
Black dotted top, Goodwill, $2.50
Pale green Eddie Bauer skirt, Gifted
Silver heart charm necklace, Gabriel Brothers, $7
Silver belt, Goodwill, $1
Black tights, Walmart, $7
Black patent booties, Goodwill, $3
Black patent Mulberry for Target bag, Target, $14.99

Total Cost of Outfit:  $55.49

I like how you still managed to work the polka dots in even though you didn't have a skirt. Creative!

Great take on the prompt, yours is very different to mine and the others, but I think you have taken the inspiration but kept it true to your own style. Great look. I love the necklace lots

That green skirt & polka dot top looks lovely on you! I also really like the way you've got the two shades of green and added the silver belt - VERY nice.

The silver belt was a nice touch and loving your necklace.
I would love to see the skir with the face graphic tee. I think that would look great as well.
Thanks for the nice compliments and visiting my blog as well.

What a fun concept! I love what you came up with (personally, I think it's even better than the inspiration outfit).

Thanks Debbie

I went very literal with my look but I love your interpretation. That green cardi is a gorgeous colour.

The 365 day no shopping ban is tough but I am really starting to try new looks with the clothes I already own.

love

This was a great idea for the Alexa Chung look! I really liked the two greens as well. They were different but the same family. And the boots -- the gray edging tied in with your necklaces as well. Very cute!

You pulled this together so well! I also like the two greens with the polka dots on top, but then you pulled the necklace in with the belt-FAB! Not to mention I love that you got it at Goodwill. Always fantastic to find other thrift shoppers!

I want to use your inspiration as my inspiration :-)

That's how I felt with the Every Body Every Wear challenge (the sense of community). But then they went and picked a maxi dress for the next one, and I hate maxi dresses :-( I have some that are maxi dresses, but I don't think that I could wear them to work. I was thinking that I could cut them off, and say that they were my old maxi dresses (and take a before and after pic), but I think that would be cheating. I looked at two birds for the inspiration post, and I dunno how I could do that one ... but maybe.
