Wednesday Wanderings: Leaving Things Behind...

There you are standing in the middle of the aisle at your favorite thrift store holding up a "maybe" and giving it the once over...once again.  Something about it is calling your name, but will it work with the rest of your closet?  Do you already have a similar item at home?  Do you really love it or are you just hoping it will work?  If you've been a thrifter for very long, you know what I'm talking about.  When you're shopping in a store filled with one of a kind items, it's a little hard to leave something behind because there is no guarantee it will be there tomorrow.  And even if it is, there is no guarantee you'll even be able to find it.

I posted photos of my last trip to Bargains & More last Wednesday.  While there, I had tried on this leopard skirt and it was a "maybe" for next fall.  But I was in the mood for Spring, I wasn't sure I wanted a dry clean only skirt and it was a tiny bit shorter than my usual skirts, so I left it behind.

Wouldn't you know it, that weekend I was walking by a store and there in the window was a leopard skirt styled with a bright lemon yellow top.  The yellow really popped against the leopard.  I love wearing yellow.  Then I remembered the skirt.

The next Monday I headed back to Bargains & More and checked out the skirt rack.  No leopard skirt.  I asked at the desk...she pilfered around for a moment...and found my leopard skirt!
I also found two scarves I really liked so it was a profitable trip.
The one on the left is yellow and brown, two colors I like to wear.  The colorful floral on the right would go well with a color blocked look.

This week's finds:
Leopard skirt, $4
Bright graphic floral scarf, $1
Yellow/brown scarf, $1

Thanks, Joy! Blogging has helped me get out of my "neutral" zone.

Waiting to see all the different ways you style the skirt. Since it was still in the store, it was meant for you! The scarves will be great for springs and into the summer.

Oh, I love the yellow scarf you found. Going back for items I have previously passed up is always an iffy proposition. I often find that I am shopping 6 months in advance on my thrifting expeditions. It's hard to think next winter...when spring is springing everywhere. I've also gotten better at passing up items I like...but know that I'm not likely to wear.

That leopard skirt will look great with the yellow.

WOW! That skirt was only $4?! I really need to get to thrifting!
And I say leopard is an all year round type deal! It looks great with the bold, bright colors of spring/summer, and just as chic with the muted colors of fall. I am glad for you, that you went back and got it!!

That's so exciting that you were able to find the skirt again. That almost never happens!
