Advantages of Photographing Your Outfits

"Take photographs of your outfits and keep them in a file to have a record of outfits that work.  This record will come in handy when you are packing for a trip or just trying to figure out what to wear for the day."  Okay...I've read that tip in various magazines more than once, but I figured it was for someone much more fashionable than me.  So I never tried it.  Until now.  It's funny but sometimes you think you understand something just because you've read about it, but you really can't understand anything until you actually do it yourself.  Now that I photograph my outfits on most days, I do have a record of what I like and what has worked.  And probably just as important, I have a record of what didn't work.  Like today.  I picked the most flattering photographs of this outfit, but the least flattering photos tell me that loose tops sometimes just make you look bigger.  You think that by wearing something loose you're hiding the areas you want to hide, but  I see now that the advice to wear something that flows over your problem areas but is somewhat fitted is the better advice.  On a non-related note, I am trying to get in a few more wears of my winter boots before it gets too warm.  I love seeing these kind of boots and granny boots (which I am in the market for) with summery items.
Charm watch and heart charm necklace.   Charming.

Love all components of your outfit and it looks great on you! The necklace is adorable. However, the closest Peebles is about an hour away on the way to my daughter's house in Ohio.

Love this denim look and the subtle print on your top! The necklaces are really great, too!
Thanks for taking the time to post such a thoughtful response to my blog about dressing for the rules vs. dressing for yourself. I think your personality shines through in how you dress - or at least I imagine I kind of know you a bit just seeing your posts and photographs! Keep on doing your thing!

It is so true that photographing one's outfits often tells us more than our mirrors do. I've had several outfits that I loved the feel of and then realized that they weren't actually bery flattering. and, I've stopped wearing them as a result.
