April 8th Fashion Beauty Friend Friday: Spring Trends or What I'm Wishing For!

First off, Happy birthday to my mom!  My mom is my best friend and run around partner.  She's taught me unconditional love and that you never know what surprises (usually interesting) each day may bring.

This week's Fashion Beauty Friend Friday from Katy Rose of Modly Chic asks the question, "What are the top 5 Spring trends that you are looking forward to seeing/sporting this season?"

1.  I've been seeing a lot of 70's inspired looks out this spring, most notably the big floppy straw hat.  I scored that find this past week at Target along with a faded denim shirt.  I've thrifted some longer, fuller skirts.  Now if I can find some strappy platforms I can compete the look!

2.  I love the pop of color of all the bright lipsticks this spring.  So far, I've snapped up some bright oranges, a purple, a deep pink and some reds.  The absolute best wearable orange I've found is 24K Orange by Revlon.
L to R:  Satin Plum Revlon, 24K Orange Revlon, Orange Flip Revlon, Mauve Gabriel, Currant Gabriel, Retro Red N.Y.C.

3.  I'm happy to see white taking center stage this spring.  Airy white cotton vintage inspired tops have always been a favorite of mine, especially when paired with faded denim.  I already own several white dresses, tops, skirts and shoes so this trend won't even cost me anything.  This past winter, I thrifted a white Guess purse so now I'll finally get a chance to use it.  I'm giving a big thumbs up to trends that I can follow out of my own closet without having to buy something new!

4.  I plan on trying the color blocking trend.  I have been seeing bloggers style the color blocking trend by mixing or layering different solid colored items out of their closets.  Most of the clothes I buy are solid colors anyway, so this is another trend that I can try for free!  Who knew being in style could be so thrifty?

5.  I remember the 80's when I had shoes to match all my outfits.  Oh...the joys of colorful shoes!  I am excited about this trend.  I have picked up a few pairs at Goodwill over the winter, but I am still in the market for some pretty pinks, purples, oranges, greens,blues...well, you get the idea.

These are the major trends I am looking forward to, but I also have a few individual items I am looking for:  a brown skirt, red skirt, denim shorts, khaki shorts and a red cardigan.  What about you?  What's on your spring wish list?  To check out other bloggers wish list, check out Modly Chic's Fashion Beauty Friend Friday April 8th post.  Happy shopping!

I love the color blocking trend! I find that it can be a little intimidating sometimes though. I try to just mix colors in the same family or set of tones, like bright blue and purple, or green and blue. You pull it off wonderfully!

I love that you are going to get to try color blocking for free! I'm hoping to find some denim shorts too. Did you get my e-mail, by the way? Just making sure.

Love those shoes! Color blocking was one of my favorite trends as well. I've also been trying to find an affordable floppy hat, so now I'm off to Target to get one. Thanks for the tip!

I definitely love the idea of colour blocking using clothes that I already have.
