Maybe she was born with it...but only her hairdresser knows for sure...

I love checking out other women's hair.  And this week, we get to talk about it on Fashion Beauty Friend Friday with Katy Rose over at Modly Chic.

For me personally, I believe that one's hair color is more a representation of how you feel inside than how you look on the outside.  Some people just know that they're supposed to be a redhead, just like I've reached for the bleach all these years because I know I'm really a blond at heart.  Others feel perfectly themselves as a brunette and others know that a beautiful black shade reflects them best.

1.      How often do you get your hair cut?  I get my hair cut every 5 weeks and that's mostly because my bangs need trimming.

2.      Do you go to the same stylist each time, try someone new, go to the cheap hair cutting chains or live it up in a salon?  I have been going to the same stylist for about 15 years.  Getting a haircut is more like visiting an old friend than like a stylist/customer relationship.  I live in a small town and the price of a haircut is quite inexpensive.

3.      Do you color your hair? How often? What’s your natural color?  I have lightened my hair since I was 13 years old.  I was one of those blond babies whose hair darkened over the years.  My natural shade is (probably?) a light to medium ash brown.

4.      The one thing you always do to keep your hair looking great is:  I swear by using a good quality straightener every day.  Even though my hair is mostly straight with a little wave, going over it with a flatiron really neatens it up.

5.      What hair trend do you love and wish you could rock? Beach hair.  I already have a little wave in my hair so you'd think I could figure this one out.  I've read the tutorials so I'm just going to have to pick up some salt water spray and give it another go this summer.

I'm trying out the Go Blonder products from John Freida.  I actually think the shampoo/conditioner is brightening my hair with its chamomile and lemon mix.  The Go Blonder spray does lighten your hair using peroxide.  My hair stylist is on vacation so I tried it to camouflage my roots.  So far, it is working...but it does give a more reddish/warm/strawberry blond...on my hair anyway.  The lightening action increases when you use a blow dryer/ flatiron combination.  Of course, if you have shiny black hair like our kitty that's looking out the window, then you won't have to worry about dark roots!

What do you think?  Do you dye your hair the color you think you look best in or the color you feel best in?  I'm curious about that...

I always have felt blonde at heart since I was a little girl, so I understand very well what you are saying.

I have been dying my hair since 16! I have literally had every single color in my hair! I like it brown w/ highlights, but since my sister moved it's too much work. HOWEVER, I've always LOVED red! So, my current "Medium Red Brown" from ion, is my favorite. I dye my hair myself and always get me hair done by the same stylist, even though it's kind of pricey.

i would love to be a christina hendricks redhead...but alas that would cost a fortune with my dark hair! but, i have always loved my brunette locks, so i'm not complaining!

Haha your title made me laugh

I couldn't answer your question though. I really can;t dye my hair because of how dark it is. Even if i could.. going too light would just look wrong with my complexion. I think that you would need to find a happy medium on what looks good and what feels good. :)

haha love the title! Yes, hair is so personal to so many women because it represents who we are. And it's okay to change it! Love the blonde on you ;)

I only started experimenting with color in recent years. Four years ago I had my hair highlighted (a deep caramel color) and then after that I colored my hair a dark brown. However as of late I have really fallen in love with my natural color. Its dark black but it has hints of brown? Its hard to describe, but I think its very unique :)

I used to be cheap about haircut, but now I go to a stylist, the same guy for 4 years every 6 weeks. I pay $25 for a trim, which takes an hour. If I want a sprayed "helmet" it cost $32. :) I started highlighting my dark brown hair several years ago and now my niece foils it for me. I am a blonde inside so highlighting is a good compromise and the roots last a lot longer. I think your blonde hair matches you perfectly!!

Hair is like your feet, you must take care of it with proper products, and nourish it, in order to be satisfied. I've been dying my hair black for sometime I believe since 17 or 18. Some things will never change. lol :)

*Thank You!

How much is the go lighter spray?! I might use it on my ends. I dip dyed them but it seems to be fading :(
