Fashion Beauty Friend Friday: Blog Pet Peeves

Today's post is sort of a "What Not to Wear" version of blogging.  KatyRose of Modly Chic was inspired by a post written by Beautifully Invisible entitled, "Ten Things about your Blog that Drive Me Crazy."  She has asked each of the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday participants to weigh in this week with the 5 things that drive us crazy about the blogs we visit, sort of like our personal blog pet peeves.  I personally think this is going to be a helpful post for me, because I if I'm doing something annoying I would like to be the first to know.

As a disclaimer, I'd like to say that I like to encourage people.  Finding fault is just not my thing.  The only people I tend to judge are the judgers.  I hate confrontation...but if I must...I hate to tell you this but...

1.  If I'm reading your blog, I want to get to know you.  My favorite bloggers tell me a little something about their day or their family or what they think about an issue.  I don't so much enjoy blogs that are impersonal.

2.  What's your name?  I understand that not everyone is comfortable with putting their names out there on the internet, but it's nice when you comment on someone's blog if you can call them by their name.  There are times I've searched sidebars, blog posts and profiles for the blogger's name and came up with nothing.

3.  I love to return comments.  But please make it easy on me!  I made the decision to stop requiring the typing of all those random letters into a box.  Haven't we all had enough of ridplh and swexgh and rofliam?

My first outfit post was on 2/1/11

4.  I also stopped moderating my comments because I realized that the commenting system I preferred was one that would publish my comment automatically.  There's something satisfying about seeing your remark in print before you leave the page.

Brrr...I learned all about outdoor shots this past winter.

5.  I've recently started trying to clean up my side bar because of I've heard other bloggers say that too much stuff on your blog makes it hard to find your actually content.  I wouldn't call this a pet peeve of mine, but I actively search out posts about ways to improve my blog and I've read this one enough that it's starting to sink in.

If you look at my sidebar right now though, you'll see that I'm not there yet.  But let's get away from the whole idea of being there.  Blogging is a journey.  Soon, I'll be reading about all my other blogging friends pet peeves.  And I'm sure that when I read these, I'll  learn something that I can do to improve my blog and that's one of the fun things about blogging.  Every time I improve my blog, or gain a follower, or get a comment or learn something new...I get excited!  So here's to better blogs and fewer blogger pet peeves.

haha great points! No one has mentioned the name thing, hopefully mine is easy to find. I hope we all take notes from this week's topic and take it as helpful feedback. I know I will :)

This is such a great post!
I hate the captcha or whatever it's called.
I used to have my comments set as "need approval" but I finally took it off. I had a not so nice person stalking my blog and needing approval was neccessary to prevent hurt feelings of my friends.

Great answers to the FBFF questions this week! I especially feel you on the captcha and moderation issues. I hate having to jump through hoops to leave a comment! Also, I love the bright outfit in that last photo.

I love this: "I personally think this is going to be a helpful post for me, because if I'm doing something annoying I would like to be the first to know."

THAT right there is the essence of this topic. It isn't about being negative or mean - its about educating and providing constructive criticism. I wrote the "inspiration" article and I myself have learned a ton by reading all of the responses today.

Love your answers. Love the way you presented them. Bravo my dear!

I really enjoy your blog, the pink color, your fun sense of humor and tips. You make me laugh and your outfits are just totally cute. Not a blogger--just a reader. Kathy

I couldn't agree more with the statement you made : "Blogging is a Journey"

I am a new blogger and I'm still working on the ins & outs of it. This is only my 2nd FBFF So I found it helpful to see what people don't like to see to make sure I'm not "one of those bloggers"

I'm kind of at a road block in my journey. I still haven't figured out all of the design aspects of blogging.

I love the intrepid use of color in your styling! What great, bold outfits! Actually your side bar is really well organized and I don't mind that there are so many options/links to choose from/browse. I like it that way! I think what people mean by "messy sidebars" is when there's a bunch of glittery animated poofy junk that strains the eyes. All of your sidebar info is content, and that's cool!
