Fashion Beauty Friend Friday: Where Do You Get Your Inspiration?

This week on Fashion Beauty Friend Friday our topic is inspiration.  Outside influences… a couple weeks ago we talked about our inspiration when it comes to blogging and so many people said that other fashion bloggers are a huge inspiration. But there are many other factors that influence us.

1.  What magazines do you subscribe to?  More than I have time to read!  I subscribe to Vogue, Glamour, Bazaar, InStyle, More, Elle, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, Writer's Digest, The Writer and Writer's Journal... whew!  I started reading fashion magazines when I was 12 and I began with an issue of Seventeen.  My most favorite magazine during those years was called Star and there were only 5 issues published in 1973. 

2.  Do you watch any fashion TV shows?  I occasionally watch "What Not to Wear" and I love what the transformation on the outside does for the transformation of the inside of the recipient.  Isn't that the best part...when they can't quit looking at themselves in the mirror and they keep smiling and tearing up.

3.  Beyond blogs, what websites do you frequent for fashion inspiration?  My absolute favorite website is galadarling.com.  She inspires me to be a better blogger and a better person.  The inspiration she gives goes way beyond what I wear.  That said, she does have beautiful and dreamy fashion spreads.    

4.  Advertisements play a huge role in forming public opinion about a product or brand… what ads do you like and why?  I like ads that make no sense, that are like a fantasy or some sort of warped dream.  There are a lot of Comme des Garcons ads that I like.  Juicy Couture ads also fit into this category.

5.  Do you own any fashion books?  I own quite a few.  One of my favorites is "Eccentric Glamour" by Simon Doonan.  I've picked up an extra copy for my next giveaway.  He is all over personal style and the more eccentric, the more "you" the better!  I am also dying to read one of the newly published biographies of Isabella Blow.
