Thrifty Girl Vintage: A Dress as a Top and Petticoat

A Dress as a Top and Petticoat

I normally post thrifty finds on Wednesdays, but today I thought I would show you what I did with the pink floral skirt that I featured in last week's "5 Ways to Start a Thrifting Fund".  I have this versatile white cotton summer dress that I've owned for years.  We're talking like at least seven, maybe ten, I don't know.  I was playing around with some new looks for it, especially with the all white trend this spring.  For one of my looks, I paired the dress with my new to me pink floral skirt.

I really like how the detailing around the hem of my dress made a nice petticoat for the skirt.

I've had these floral flip flops for ages, too.  I will have to guesstimate the price.

My inspiration came from Tiffany of A Reason to be Fabulous.  Check out her red dress worn on three successive days as first a dress, then a top and last  for a skirt here.   It's going to be fun remixing my dresses this summer.  What is your favorite item to remix?

What I'm Wearing:
White dress, gifted
Pink floral skirt, $2, local rummage store
Vintage pink pin, 75 cents, Goodwill
Pink flower flip flops, $3, Big Lots

Total Cost of Outfit:  $5.75!

I did make the top five at Fabulous for $50 & under so I am in the contest!  (Never mind that there were only seven entries and two of those were disqualified due to posting details...BUT STILL I'M IN THE CONTEST!  Head over and check out the looks and you can vote for your favorite one.  And I promise... no subliminal messages this time!

Very clever way to style the skirt. The shoes are fun with the outfit. I did find a denim skirt...finally...2 dollars and some change...

This is such a fresh, feminine spring/summer outfit! I love the little bit of white peeking out below the hem of the skirt, and the sandals are the perfect footwear to accent this look. Thank you for the shout-out!!
